Standard EN SampleHousehold electric cooking appliances - Part 2: Hobs - Methods for measuring performance
Also Known As:
A standard called IEC 60350-2:2017 describes how to evaluate the efficiency of home electric ranges. This standard is applicable to all hobs, including those that are a part of a cooking range, whether they are built-in or meant to be placed on a work surface. It does not, however, include portable grilling and cooking gadgets.
The major performance characteristics of hobs that are important to users are defined in this standard, together with instructions for measuring them. It doesn't offer a performance classification or ranking system.
The standard has undergone a number of technical revisions since its 2016 release. There are new requirements for flexible and free induction zones (also known as cooking areas), specifications for standard and alternative cookware, a measurement procedure for energy consumption that reflects a cooking process similar to that in a home, a revised measurement procedure for control accuracy, a reproducible measurement procedure for heat distribution assessment, and more.
