Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Safety - Part 2-35: Particular Requirements for Instantaneous Water Heaters
Also Known As:
A standard called IEC 60335-2-35:2012 focuses on the security of electric instantaneous water heaters used in homes and other similar situations. These appliances, which have rated voltages of no more than 480 V for other appliances and 250 V for single-phase appliances, are made to heat water below the boiling point. The bare heating element of instantaneous water heaters is likewise covered by the standard.
The scope of this standard also extends to appliances used by laypeople in light industry, agriculture, and stores that could potentially endanger the public. The goal is to address the typical risks connected with these appliances so everyone in and around the home may use them safely.
While this guideline considers the general populace, it does not fully take into consideration people who have physical, sensory, or mental impairments, as well as those who lack experience and education. To ensure these people interact with the equipment safely, it's crucial that they undergo supervision or training.
The fourth edition of the standard, released in 2002, and all of its updates are replaced by this fifth edition. The improvements in this edition include things like changing certain notes to normative text, eliminating specific comments, and adding more specifications for water heaters and appliances with programmable electronic circuits. It is recommended that National Committees accept this publication for implementation within 12 to 36 months of the date of publication. It should also be read in connection with IEC 60335-1:2010.
