Standard EN SampleHousehold and Similar Electrical Appliances - Safety - Particular Requirements for Battery Chargers
Also Known As:
The safety criteria for electric battery chargers used in homes and other comparable locations are covered by AS/NZS 60335.2.29:2004 (R2016). This standard covers battery chargers that operate at a maximum rated voltage of 250V and have an output at a safety extra-low voltage. It also protects battery chargers used in garages, stores, small businesses, and farms that could endanger the general public.
Although this standard seeks to address typical risks connected to household appliances, it does not fully take into consideration the usage of appliances by unsupervised small children or elderly people, nor does it take into account children playing with the appliances. The national health authorities, labor protection authorities, and other comparable organizations in various countries may specify additional requirements for this standard, as well as regulations for appliances used in automobiles, ships, or aircraft.
It's important to note that this standard does not cover built-in battery chargers, battery chargers that are out of the user's reach, battery chargers used in hazardous environments, battery chargers made up of multiple units, battery chargers for toys, supply units for electronic equipment, battery chargers for photographic flash apparatus, or battery chargers. These particular circumstances call for distinct standards or laws.
