A standard known as BS EN 62552-2:2020 describes the essential properties and testing procedures for home refrigeration equipment. Internal cooling for these appliances is possible through forced air circulation or natural convection. The standard specifies the performance criteria for these appliances and offers test procedures to evaluate their qualities.
The standard emphasizes that every test is distinct and assesses a particular aspect of the appliance under examination. It is not advisable to extrapolate test results from a sample to the full population of appliances, notwithstanding the possibility of certain similarities in the setups for several tests.
This standard updates the earlier edition from 2007 and makes important technical adjustments. A cooling capacity test, a pull-down test, and performance tests especially created for wine storage appliances are also introduced in Part 2 of the standard.
