A harmonized standard created by the CSA Group and UL (Underwriters Laboratories) is known as CSA C22.2 No. 243-17. It is the tenth edition of UL 1017 and the sixth edition of CSA C22.2 No. 243. This standard replaces earlier versions released in 2015.

This standard covers domestic floor sweepers, blower cleaners, and vacuum cleaners with motors. It also covers household floor finishing equipment. The specifications apply to both residential and commercial applications, and these machines are designed for use indoors or outdoors. Appliances with a voltage rating of 250 V or machinery that produces pressure greater than 2.5 MPa (360 psi) are not covered by the standard. Appliances designed for use in places like hospitals or laboratories, where there may be a risk of harmful chemicals spreading, are also excluded. Depending on how they will be used, various appliances have different specifications and considerations.
