Domestic Gas Ranges
Also Known As:
Domestic gas ranges built using brand-new, unused components and materials are covered by the "Domestic Gas Ranges" standard, CAN1-1.1-M81 (R2011). The gas ranges covered by the standard can be used with propane or natural gas and can be installed in mobile homes or recreational vehicles. As long as accommodations are made for the conversion procedure, these ranges can either be created specifically for use with propane or they can be converted for use with both natural gas and propane.
There are three sections to the standard: Domestic ranges for use with the aforementioned gases are constructed in Part I, performed in Part II, and words used throughout the standard are defined in Part III. A gas-fired room heater that is integrated into the gas range must also be of the vented variety and come with a safety shut-off system. The construction specifications for the range's gas-fired vented room heater component should be in accordance with the applicable clauses of the CAN1-2.1 standard on gas-fired vented room heaters.
