Furniture - Strength, Durability and Safety: Requirements for Non-Domestic Seating
Also Known As:
The main goal of the DIN EN 16139 standard is to specify the precise requirements for the security, toughness, and longevity of various types of chairs designated for non-domestic usage. All seating types, including visitor seats in offices, that can support individuals weighing up to 110 kg must adhere to this requirement.
It is crucial to remember that some types of seating, such as ranked seating, office work chairs, chairs used in educational institutions, outdoor seating, and linked seating, already have appropriate EN Standards or drafts that are not covered by this standard. Additionally, this regulation does not apply to work chairs intended for industrial use.
The durability criteria for upholstery materials, castors, reclining and tilting mechanisms, and seat height adjustment mechanisms are not covered by the DIN EN 16139 standard. Additionally, it excludes specifications for aging, deterioration, and flammability resistance.
