For ranking sitting furniture, the DIN EN 12727 standard specifies standards for its strength, durability, and safety. This standard focuses especially on bench-style or individual sitting that is affixed to the floor and/or wall permanently. It does not include street furniture or connected seating that is not secured to the ground or walls.
It is significant to note that the standard excludes criteria for upholstery materials' resistance to aging, deterioration, flammability, the effects of ambient temperature, and durability.
The standard also has two annexes: Annex A, which lists extra test procedures, and Annex B, which details the severity of tests in proportion to their use.
