Furniture - Seating - Test Methods for the Determination of Strength and Durability
Also Known As:
The DIN EN 1728 standard outlines the test procedures for assessing the durability and structural strength of various seating options. Regardless of the intended application, components, design, construction, or manufacturing method, this standard is applicable to any seating. However, since these are covered by other European Standards, they do not apply to particular seating items such as highchairs for children, chairs that attach to tables, and bath seats.
It's crucial to remember that this standard does not address testing for evaluating electrical, aging, or degrading capabilities, nor does it evaluate the longevity of upholstery materials like fillings or covers. Furthermore, not every test described in this standard might be applicable to every kind of seating. Depending on the intended end use of the seating product, the DIN EN 1728 standard does not contain any specific requirements because these can be found in other pertinent standards.
