Automatic Electrical Controls - Part 2-7: Particular Requirements for Timers and Time Switches
Also Known As:
The timers and time switches used in homes and other applications are the topic of the standard IEC 60730-2-7:2015. These gadgets can be used to regulate a variety of processes, including heating, cooling, and other related applications. The specification covers timers that draw power from a variety of sources, including gas, oil, solid fuel, and solar thermal energy.
Individual timers employed as a component of a control system or timers that are mechanically integrated with multifunctional controls are also covered by this standard. It does not, however, apply to time-delay switches covered by IEC 60669-2-3.
The purpose of the standard is to guarantee the timers' inherently safe design, appropriate operation, and testing practices. Both electrical and non-electrical timers used in homes and for other comparable purposes are included. It also broadens the scope of its applicability to industrial uses where specialized product standards are lacking.
The standard's third version has experienced changes and technical advancements since the second edition, which was released in 2008. New requirements for anomalous operations have been introduced, and the compliance standards for various sorts of actions have been updated. The specification is also in line with IEC 60730-1:2010's most recent revision.
