Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Safety - Part 2-47: Particular Requirements for Commercial Electric Boiling Pans
Also Known As:
The safety standards for industrial electric boiling pans used in professional food processing applications are addressed in the standard IEC 60335-2-47:2021. These appliances are not meant to be used in homes; they are made for business use. The standard applies to electric boiling pans with a maximum voltage rating of 480 V for other appliances and 250 V for single-phase appliances.
The standard's goal is to address the frequent risks connected to these kinds of appliances and guarantee their safe functioning. Appliances used in vehicles, ships, airplanes, or locations with unique characteristics like corrosive or explosive atmospheres may need to meet additional standards. In many nations, extra standards may also be specified by national water supply, labor, and health protection authorities.
Appliances made specifically for industrial use, those used in environments with unique conditions, those used in the continuous mass production of food, and battery-operated appliances are not covered by the standard. The standard's fifth revision, which aligns with IEC 60335-1:2020, makes technical modifications such converting some notes into normative text, clarifying test requirements, and excluding battery-operated devices and devices used in public spaces.
