Household and similar electrical appliances - Safety - Part 2-39: Particular requirements for commercial electric multi-purpose cooking pans
Also Known As:
A standard called IEC 60335-2-39:2012 focuses on the security requirements for industrial electric multi-purpose frying pans. These pieces of equipment are made especially for use in commercial kitchens found in cafeterias, hospitals, and other commercial buildings. The specification covers appliances with rated voltages up to 480 V for other appliances and 250 V for single-phase appliances. It also applies to pressurized appliances and those that contain pressurized components.
The primary goal of the standard is to address the typical risks that these kinds of appliances offer and guarantee their safe functioning. The standard specifies a number of standards for the items' mechanical, electrical, and construction elements. It details requirements for abnormal tests, mechanical hazard tests, leakage current restrictions for portable appliances, and guidelines for using multipurpose cooking pans.
The standard also specifies standards for lids, the location of pressure reliefs, and fixed appliances that can be moved for cleaning when building multipurpose cooking pans. It is significant to note that appliances intended for use in cars, on ships, or in airplanes may require additional specifications.
After the release of the standard, manufacturers and testing organizations are urged to establish a transitional period to assure compliance with the new standards and to set themselves up for conducting new or amended tests. The content of this publication should be adopted by national committees for implementation within 12 to 36 months after the publication date. IEC 60335-1:2010 should be read in addition to the standard.
