Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Safety - Part 2-3: Particular Requirements for Electric Irons

A standard called IEC 60335-2-3:2012+A1:2015 focuses on the security requirements for household electric dry irons and steam irons. It includes an iron with a separate boiler or water tank with a maximum capacity of 5 liters and a maximum rated voltage of 250 V. The standard also covers appliances used by laypeople in farms, light industry, and stores that could endanger the public.
The standard intends to address the frequent risks connected to this equipment that people may encounter inside and outside the house. However, it ignores the possibility that some people, especially kids, have physical, sensory, or mental impairments that make it impossible for them to use the device safely without adult supervision or training.
Ironers, appliances made specifically for industrial use, and appliances meant for use in environments with unique requirements, such as corrosive or explosive atmospheres, are not covered by the standard, which is crucial to highlight.
This standard's sixth edition, which was released in 2012 and revised in 2015, includes modifications like turning some notes into normative text, identifying hoses that have undergone pressure tests, and making it clearer which kinds of flexible cables are acceptable.
To give equipment manufacturers and testing organizations enough time to comply with and adapt to the new standards and tests, national committees are urged to adopt and implement the standard's content within 12 to 36 months of the date of publication.
There is no need to order the amendment individually because the sixth edition and its amendment are both included in this consolidated version of the standard.
