Automatic electrical controls for household and similar use - Part 1: General requirements
Also Known As:
A standard known as IEC 60730-1:2010 is applicable to automatic electrical controls found in home appliances and other comparable equipment. This covers the controls for heating, cooling, and other systems. The standard addresses equipment safety-related operating values, operating times, and operating sequences. It also specifies how automatic electrical control devices used in domestic equipment must be tested.
This standard also applies to building automation systems covered by ISO 16484-2 and controls for appliances covered by IEC 60335-1. In comparison to the earlier edition, the 2010 standard includes a number of modifications and revisions. The low-temperature test specifications for in-line cords have been revised, as have the contact pollution degree and the installation of screwless terminals on printed circuit boards.
The addition of EMC test levels from the IEC 60335 series, the incorporation of CISPR 11 EMC regulations, and further testing for flexible cables are significant additions. With the replacement of some provisions and annexes, the criteria for heat, fire, and tracking resistance have also been updated. For sensor cables or cords supplied by parties other than SELV as well as functional safety contingency plans, new standards have been imposed. The standard also updates the references and bibliography and integrates software approaches from IEC 61508-3. In this version, the keyword index has been removed.
