Automatic Electrical Controls - Part 1: General Requirements
Also Known As:
A standard known as IEC 60730-1:2013+AMD1:2015 is applicable to automatic electrical controls used in home appliances and other related devices. It covers the many energy source controls, including those for electricity, gas, oil, solid fuel, solar thermal energy, etc. Controls used in equipment for public use, such as those found in stores, offices, hospitals, farms, and commercial and industrial applications, are likewise covered by this standard.
Both individual controls and controls that are part of a control system are subject to the standard. In accordance with IEC 60335, it also includes relays used as controllers for appliances. In addition to providing additional criteria for relays in Annex U, the standard establishes safety and operational requirements for these controllers.
It's crucial to remember that, unless otherwise specified in Part 2 or the applicable equipment standard, this standard does not apply to controls created expressly for industrial process applications.
The title and scope of the fifth version of this standard have been modified, and there have also been updates to the requirements for switch-mode power supplies and adjustments to some clauses to account for technological improvements.
It should be noted that the fifth edition of the standard and its amendment 1 are both included in this consolidated version, eliminating the need to order the amendment individually.
