Domestic Cooking Appliances Burning Gas - Safety: General
Also Known As:
The safety specifications and testing procedures for freestanding and built-in residential cooking equipment that burns flammable gases are laid forth in the BS EN 30-1-1:2021 standard. Appliances designed for use in residential residences must comply with this standard.
The standard includes a variety of domestic cooking appliances, including griddles, freestanding cookers, built-in cookers, table cookers, freestanding ovens, built-in ovens, freestanding or built-in grills, and independent standalone, built-in, and hob and grill hobs. Additionally, it comprises gas cooking equipment with electrical heating elements.
This standard does not, however, apply to outdoor appliances, appliances connected to a duct for the evacuation of combustion products, appliances with pyrolytic gas ovens, appliances with flame supervision devices and limited ignition attempts, appliances with periodic ignition and extinguishing under automatic control, appliances with fans for the supply of combustion air or the evacuation of combustion products, appliances with a programmable delayed cooking cycle, and appliances with shaver sockets.
It's crucial to remember that additional specifications can be needed for appliances intended for use in caravans, ships, aircraft, or RVs.
