Standard EN SampleGas Appliance Pressure Regulators
Also Known As:
A standard that is applicable to individual gas appliance pressure regulators is CSA/ANSI Z21.18:19/CSA 6.3:19. These regulators are made of brand-new, unused components and materials and are designed for use with specific gas appliances. Negative gas appliance pressure regulators are also covered by the standard.
The standard states that without additional testing tailored to the unique design of the appliance, compliance with this standard does not ensure that the device is suitable for use with gas appliances. Other American National Standards that are applicable must be followed by components that perform tasks other than regulating gas appliance pressure.
The regulation covers regulators used with liquefied petroleum gases, natural, manufactured, and mixed gases, as well as LP gas-air mixes. It covers different inlet pressures and categorizes regulators according to their intended use. The standard also lists many uses for regulators, such as main burner and pilot burner loads with a minimum pilot flow rate and regulators for home gas ranges.
The standard identifies reference books that are specifically cited in the standard and includes rules that are special to Canada. Unless otherwise specified, gauge pressure is used throughout the standard.
