Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Safety - Part 2-8: Particular Requirements for Shavers, Hair Clippers and Similar Appliances
Also Known As: CAN/CSA C22.2 NO. 60335-2-8:16
The Canadian government adopted the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) Standard 60335-2-8 as CSA C22.2 No. 60335-2-8:16 (R2021). It updates the specifications for shavers, hair clippers, and comparable appliances found in CSA C22.2 No. 68-09. It replaces the previous edition, released in 2006.
Electric shavers, hair clippers, and similar appliances having a rated voltage of no more than 250 volts that are used for domestic or similar purposes are covered by this standard. Examples of comparable tools used for pedicures and manicures are also shown. The standard addresses the typical risks that these products pose inside and outside the home, but it ignores certain user characteristics or behaviors, such as children playing with the device.
It is vital to keep in mind that this standard does not apply to massage appliances, medical appliances, or appliances designed for use in hazardous environments like corrosive or explosive atmospheres. Appliances used in automobiles, ships, and aircraft, as well as in compliance with national health and labor protection authorities, may require additional criteria.
