Automatic Electrical Controls for Household and Similar Use - Part 2-11: Particular Requirements for Energy Regulators
Also Known As:
The CAN/CSA-E60730-2-11:18 standard establishes specific specifications for energy regulators used in home appliances and other comparable equipment. The IEC Standard 60730-2-11 has been adopted with Canadian modifications. The standard covers energy regulators that can be thermally, mechanically, or electrically driven and are used for heating, cooling, and similar applications. It encompasses the equipment's innate safety, operating values, operating times, and operating order.
The standard also specifies requirements for energy regulators for appliances covered by IEC 60335-1 as well as automatic electrical energy regulators used in household or similar equipment. Energy regulators made solely for industrial applications are exempt from it. Individual energy regulators utilized as a component of a control system or those that are mechanically incorporated with multi-functional controls are covered by the standard.
The standard also covers energy regulators used by the public in places like stores, light industry, and farms but not designed for typical domestic use. It also covers specifications for manually operated energy regulators that are mechanically or electrically connected to automatic controls.
The energy regulators that meet this standard have rated voltages and currents that don't exceed 690 V and 63 A, respectively. It also specifies criteria for energy regulators utilizing NTC or PTC thermistors (Annex J) and electronic devices (Annex H).
