Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Safety - Part 2-49: Particular Requirements for Commercial Electric Appliances for Keeping Food and Crockery Warm
Also Known As:
The safety standard CSA C22.2 No. 60335-2-49:20 is unique to commercial electric appliances used to keep food and tableware warm. It replaces earlier versions of related standards and is an acceptance of IEC Standard 60335-2-49.
The standard's scope includes electrically driven commercial appliances with rated voltages up to 480 volts for other appliances and 250 volts for single-phase appliances that aren't meant for home use. This standard covers a variety of appliances, including heated tops, display cases, crockery dispensers, heated tables, and radiant heaters.
The standard deals with the typical risks connected to these kinds of products. It does, however, accept that certain appliances, such as those used outdoors or in cars, ships, or aircraft, may call for additional criteria. Appliances made specifically for industrial use, those used in environments with unique characteristics like caustic or explosive atmospheres, appliances utilized in continuous mass food production, and bain-marie appliances are also exempt from the norm.
