Appliances that contain one or more burners and an automatic burner control system are specifically covered by this standard. Regardless of whether the appliance has a fan for combustion air supply or product evacuation, the standard contains particular requirements and test procedures for burners with automatic control systems.

It's significant to note that EN 30-1-1:2008+A2:2010, which addresses generic specifications for home cooking equipment using flammable gases, is meant to be used in combination with this standard. The standard also does not address all safety criteria for appliances with forced-convection ovens, grills, or glass ceramic hotplates.

Regardless of whether they are standalone items or included in a single appliance, the standard is applicable to both the appliances and the parts that make them up. This contains equipment that combines the use of gas and electricity. The electrical safety of electrically heated components or related equipment is not covered, though.
